Harlosh House
Location: Isle of Skye, Scotland
Type: Residential
Stage: On Site
The single-storey home is designed to nestle into the landscape, remaining visually subservient in order to protect the stunning natural scenery. Refer to the rendered visualisations that illustrate the subtle impact of the house on the landscape.
The house is designed to have minimal visual impact on the surrounding environment, with its location and orientation following the natural contours of the site. It integrates with the landscape, avoiding disruption to the skyline while providing concealment and protection from the elements.
The curtain walling positioned on the South West facade allows for clear views across the loch and allows for the advantage of passive social gain. Window location, size, reveal depth and orientation are considered to permit low winter sun to enter the building and combined with a fabric first strategy then minimise the energy input to heat the properties.
